Auburn Academy's campus is known for its verdant beauty and architecture. Designed with a park-like atmosphere in mind, our campus provides an inviting environment to learn and grow, and is integral to advancing our mission of teaching and learning.
Gorgeous buildings encompass state-of-the-art facilities that enable boundless exploration in any manner of subject areas. Architectural styles from Collegiate Gothic and Romanesque Revival to Modernism create an inspiring setting for learning and living. Connecting these buildings is equally stunning landscaping intended to help our campus feel like an intellectual home.
Our campus is organised into neighbourhoods, each anchored by a quadrangle or buildings dedicated to a specific aspect of our mission.
Anchored by the STEM Quadrangle, the Archway Neighbourhood primarily serves as home to our facilities for the sciences and related disciplines. Within the quadrangle itself are the Mathematics Building, Science Centre, and Engineering Centre. These are supplemented by the Laboratory Sciences Centre, the Greenhouse, and the Farm to provide an unparalleled education in the natural sciences and engineering to every Academy student.
Also found in the Archway Neighbourhood is the iconic Fox Hall. Originally constructed as an academic building for the Academy's Junior Programmes, it reopened as a dormitory for third- and fourth-years following extensive renovations. Auburn Arch, the large archway in the centre of the building, gives the neighbourhood its name.
The Athletics Neighbourhood is home to our many sport facilities that often rival those found at universities. The crown jewels of this neighbourhood are the Academy Stadium and the Academy Gymnasium. These are joined by a plethora of other facilities — an aquatic centre, a baseball and softball field, racquet courts, a track stadium, a mini-golf course, rowing facilities, and equestrian facilities — helping make athletics a vital part of every students' experience at the Academy.
Named for its expansive views of Heart Lake, the Lakeview Neighbourhood is the Academy's hub for residential life. The Residential Quadrangle contains the Academy's four principal residence halls, each one home to one of the four Houses. The neighbourhood also contains Community Hall — a versatile space that primarily serves as the Academy's dining hall — and the Academy Campus Centre — home to many residential life functions — as well as a large lakeside waterfront.
One of the historic centres of the Academy campus, the Library Neighbourhood contains its namesake: the Central Library Building, a monumental edifice home to the majority of the Auburn Academy Library's collections, complete with a soaring, five-storey central reading room.
The neighbourhood also contains the Humanities Quadrangle, home to the English Building and Creative Writing Rotunda, Social Science Centre, World Languages Building, and a small amphitheatre. Also in the Library Neighbourhood is the Student Leadership Building, the former student centre now repurposed as a workspace for prefects and head students. The building's basement level contains the Memorial Lecture Hall, the Academy's primary space for large lectures. Peninsula Hall — home to the Centre for Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion — and Lavender Hall are also located in the Library Neighbourhood.
Another historic core of the campus and the primary point of entry to the Academy, the Station Neighbourhood, which is located just outside of the Auburn Station complex, contains multiple buildings dedicated to residential life, including the Infirmary, the Mental Health Centre, Public Safety, and the Bookstore. It also houses Alumni House, as well as the Administration Building, home to the Academy's central administration.
The Woods Neighbourhood, named for the tree-lined path that links the neighbourhood to the rest of the campus, is anchored by the Fine Arts Quadrangle. The quadrangle contains the Academy's arts facilities and venues, including the Performing Arts Complex, Amphitheatre, Music Centre, Visual Arts Centre, Film & New Media Building, and Arts Forum. Also included in the neighbourhood are Arbour Hall — the former Junior Programmes dormitory slated for conversion into a new home for the music library — and the campus operations building.
Visiting our beautiful campus will give you an idea of what life is like at the Academy. Tours and information sessions are available throughout the year.
